What you can do about it.

 

Talk to your child's sleep doctor and the school for accomodations.  The school should set up one or both of the following, and if the school will not do either one, then you do have recourse, which can be found in links below:

  • 504

  • IEP

Typical accomodations for students with Narcolepsy:

  • Naps

  • Flexible schedules

  • Longer test taking times

  • Help with taking notes

  • Change of policy regarding absences

  • Taped Texts

  • Notetakers 

  • Readers, and more.

What is an IEP?

 

An IEP is an Individualized Education Plan, which is a written statement of the educational program designed to meet a child's individual needs. Every child who receives special education services must have an IEP.
